I like to hike, kayak and explore. I was approached by Beth Bergeron of the UT Extension Office in Maynardville about helping organize a committee to make this happen on a larger scale. If you are free tomorrow, Thursday December 19, please consider showing up and seeing if it is something you might also be interested in. See you there.
What: Kick-Off Meeting for a GreenWays / BlueWays Committee
When: Thursday, December 19
Time: 4:00 pm
Where: UT Extension office – 3925 Maynardville Hwy, Maynardville, Tennessee 37807
Why: Learn more about what other communities have done to create trails on land and water. Get involved in doing the same here in Union County.
Why get involved? If you consider yourself an “adventurer” or “techie” or “outdoors person” this may be something of interest to you. It is a chance to make a difference in the early stages of developing / mapping trails on land and water on Norris Lake and Union County. There is already a group of high schoolers using GPS equipment to map existing trails at Big Ridge State Park, you may have seen this in the paper. We need people who can find the fun spots to go to on land and water and either communicate it to others to map / document or help make this happen. This is a chance to get in on the ground floor and make it happen. You will meet other “like minded” people and have fun doing it as well.
