At a recent visit to Darren and Tamara’s commercial garden in Sharps Chapel, we were given some Kale along with a suggestion to try making Kale Chips. Jim and I love Kale, but I had never tried making Kale Chips, although I’ve heard several of my friends mention that they had.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained and boy, am I glad I did. They are addictively good.
Tamara’s recipe for Kale Chips is simply:
1. Wash and dry fresh Kale. Remove stems and discard. Cut leaves into smaller pieces
2. Sprinkle with 1 T. olive oil and a little salt.
3. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
Here is a how-to video on how to make Kale Chips (I apologize for the introductory ad on the video).
The ones in the video looked better than mine, but mine sure did taste great.
All the recipes say that this is a nutritious snack, but I couldn’t help but wonder if the heat of the oven was zapping away some vitamins — you know what they say, that raw vegetables are healthier.
Life is an Adventure.
